Strasbourg Gourmet: A Peek Inside Maison Naegel
...one of the best patisseries and bakeries in France's eastern capital
Dear Subscribers,
Sincere apologies for my silence over the past couple of weeks. We were happily roaming for much of last week in Strasbourg, a city I’ve come to know well— and where I was soaking in some new input both from the capital and the surrounding region of Alsace. Then I accidentally (and stupidly) left my laptop in a hotel drawer, and have been waiting for it to be sent back to me.
This is a process that’s proving longer and more bureaucratic than I would have expected, though I really shouldn’t be surprised. Bureaucracy and long delays are natural parts of life in France, where the term “as soon as possible” is often understood with far less urgency than it is in English-speaking countries. C’est la vie (she grumbles impatiently under her breath).
In the meantime, I’ve been chipping away at a long backlog of work by relying only on a sluggish desktop computer, which has slowed my output considerably. I hope to pick up the pace again from here on out, which means you can expect more from me in your inboxes in what remains of April.
‘Nuff with the mea culpas for now. This week I thought I’d give you a peek inside one of the places that I discovered on my recent stay in France’s eastern capital city, and that has quickly become my favorite address for both sweet and savory treats: Maison Naegel.
